At the Citadel
WORLD PREMIERE: James Kudelka & MALCOLM
James Kudelka, Resident Choreographer at Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie creates a work exclusively for the puppet Malcolm in this personal full-length “duet” with himself as performer. Malcolm is presented to the live performance and original composition by pianist Dustin Peters and choreographed in collaboration with Bill Coleman. James Kudelka has been working with the puppet Malcolm since 2009, when Malcolm took a role in Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie’s Living Dances program in a short work by Kudelka set to an aria from Bach’s St. Matthew Passion.
This performance inspired Kudelka to include Malcolm in another short appearance in AllOneWord.

Malcolm premieres at the intimate Mimi Herrndorf studio-theatre at The Citadel on February 19–23, 2014.

CALL FOR ARTISTS

The Toronto Puppetry Collective is dedicated to fostering the growth of the puppetry community in Toronto. As part of the second season of the Puppet Allsorts performance series, the TPC has added a “Night of Shorts” event, which will showcase new works (or workshop pieces) on Monday, May 26, 2014.

The TPC seeks 10-15 minute pieces that push the envelope of puppetry performance. More than a SLAM piece but less than a full show…a good place to try something out in a more involved way.

Submit a short project description as well as an artist and/or company bio. Please include photos and/or a link to online video (if applicable) of the work.
Artists chosen to perform will receive an honorarium for their participation.
Please email us to submit. MORE INFO

Deadline to submit: February 26, 2014

The EIGHTH ANNUAL What Are You Doing UP There?! Festival brings together the work of emerging and established artists in a celebration of the arts! The festival originated in 2007 as a series of short, student-produced plays, showcased in the basement of a house! It has grown to include over a hundred of talented artists from a wide variety of disciplines, and we've now moved UP to a new venue at Fringe Creation Lab. This year, the festival has added afternoon WORKSHOPS to its festival line-up, a chance to hone those artistic skills and learn from some of Toronto's hardest working and most talented artists! Back Burner Productions aims to create and produce original Canadian artworks that will enrich the Toronto artistic community! What Are You Doing Up There?! takes all those ideas we've been keeping on the back burner of our minds, and gets them UP on the stage!

Featuring:
Zita Nyarady, Jean-Paul Mullet, Korri Birch, Jeff Giles, SidePony Nation, Sage Tyrtle, Money Fish

WHERE: At Fringe Creation Lab (720 Bathurst Street, 4th Floor)
WHEN: Thursday February 13th, Friday February 14th, and Saturday February 15th at 8pm
Doors open at 7:00pm. - Tickets Only $10!

RED WAGON COLLECTIVE: DONATIONS NEEDED:
fabric, wool, embroidery floss, needles, crochet hooks, old sweaters

RED WAGON COLLECTIVE was formed in 2006 in response to our desire to deepen our artistic, collaborative, and community-engaged practices through residency projects that would enable us to develop both intensive and extensive relationships in the Junction - a rapidly changing neighbourhood in Toronto's west end. We share a desire to work collaboratively with artists and non-artists to create work that inspires new conversations; softens boundaries between groups separated by age, culture, ability, and economic status; promotes the presence of art in everyday life and contributes to increasing public engagement in community development. The work we create with communities is used in producing exhibitions, public installations, and celebratory performance events. We are currently working within the walls of the Evangeline Shelter.

Image Foundry specializes in edition printing, custom art reproduction projects, and high-end photo-retouching work.
