Nina
Keogh visits Open Door Designs
Nina
is a third generation puppeteer. Her grand parents Violet
and David Keogh started performing in 1925 and her parents
John
and Linda Keogh continued the tradition and were involved
in the beginnings of television with Maggin Muggins, Razzle
Dazzle (my favourite) and The Friendly Giant
to name just a few. Nina has continued in the family
business and has been involved in many productions including
Mr. Dressup, Today's Special, Bookmice,
and as a regular guest on Groundling Marsh. Nina
lives and works in beautiful Twillingate, Nfld. Visit her
website: www.ninakeogh.com
It was
a wonderful visit with too much to talk about and too little
time.

It
may not look like it but our new dedicated workshop space
is ALMOST finished! Kelly Kirkham's workshop on May 30th
will be the inaugural event. We would like to have a puppet
resource library as well as a representative museum of puppet
types to assist with building. The space will also be available
for rent for workshops and/or events. Stay tuned.

has been providing professional family- oriented marionette
shows for parties & events throughout the world. Each
character is designed and hand-built by Scott Land in his
private studio. Scott applies the techniques of Old World
craftsmanship as well as amazing technological advances found
in television shows and special effects shops. Thousands of
hours are spent to create these marionettes, which have captured
the attention of critics, craftsmen and artist alike."

Since
the beginning of January Central Tech students have been getting
hands-on experience with the skilled trades they love by renovating
a vacant warehouse at 45 Ernest Ave. into a new home for the
Dovercourt
Boys' and Girls' club. The students hope to have their renovations
finished in time so the club can begin regular operations this

RED
WAGON COLLECTIVE: DONATIONS NEEDED:
fabric, wool, embroidery floss, needles, crochet hooks, old
sweaters
RED WAGON
COLLECTIVE was formed in 2006 in response to our
desire to deepen our artistic, collaborative, and community-engaged
practices through residency projects that would enable us
to develop both intensive and extensive relationships in the
Junction - a rapidly changing neighbourhood in Toronto's west
end. We share a desire to work collaboratively with artists
and non-artists to create work that inspires new conversations;
softens boundaries between groups separated by age, culture,
ability, and economic status; promotes the presence of art
in everyday life and contributes to increasing public engagement
in community development. The work we create with communities
is used in producing exhibitions, public installations, and
celebratory performance events. We are currently working within
the walls of the Evangeline Shelter.
