LOVE IN A PERSIAN MINIATURE: STORIES FROM RUMI (MOLAVI) AND NIZAMI
STORYTELLER: Ariel Balevi
FEBRUARY 14, 2010 from 2-4PM at St. Mary's United Church , 85 Church Street South, ST. MARYS , ONTARIO

Tickets $15 available for reserve via email events@stmarysstorytelling.org
Phone: 519-229-6468

Love as a theme has been explored countless times by the great poets of classical Persian literature. The 12th century poet Nizami and the 13th century poet Rumi (Molavi) respectively explore love in its worldly and mystical aspects. Yet neither poet separate these two aspects but rather they are evoked together, every manifestation of love in the world taken as a mirror reflection of the divine.
In the first part of the afternoon,a few stories will be told from the Masnavi, while the second part will be taken up with some of the pavilion stories from the Haft Paykar.

NEW PPT COMMISSIONED

Open Door Designs was recently commissioned to produce another custom PPT-PRO. It features a 52" x 28" Proscenium is 72" wide and the playboard which sits at 44" is curved and includes a scenery slot. The challenge was to design it to fit in the carry bag to retain the portability. The playboard and the two large cross-pieces all hinge and fit beautifully into the bag.The bag, theatre, rear drapes and prop trays weigh just under 25 kgs.

I continually get requests for information about ventriloquist dummies. Here are some links contributed by others or just found. They are all from the States. If anyone knows of Canadians working in the same field, please let me know

RED WAGON COLLECTIVE: DONATIONS NEEDED:
wool, embroidery floss, needles, crochet hooks, old sweaters

RED WAGON COLLECTIVE was formed in 2006 in response to our desire to deepen our artistic, collaborative, and community-engaged practices through residency projects that would enable us to develop both intensive and extensive relationships in the Junction - a rapidly changing neighbourhood in Toronto's west end. We share a desire to work collaboratively with artists and non-artists to create work that inspires new conversations; softens boundaries between groups separated by age, culture, ability, and economic status; promotes the presence of art in everyday life and contributes to increasing public engagement in community development. The work we create with communities is used in producing exhibitions, public installations, and celebratory performance events. We are currently working within the walls of the Evangeline Shelter.
