BUILDING A FOAM PUPPET |
Use
glue and foam to create an awesome puppet
Man, I used
to love those singing vegetables on the Muppet Show.
Come to this four-week course and learn to make a “Muppet
Style” puppet out of soft foam. Special attention
will be given to techniques for gluing nearly invisible
seems. The materials and techniques used in creating
great faces will also be presented. Basic puppet manipulation
will be covered. No prior experience is necessary.

Sew
a puppet and learn tricks for working with faux fur
Do you love Oscar the Grouch? Who doesn’t? In
this four-week course students will construct a “Muppet
Style” puppet out of faux fur. This workshop offers
tips and tricks for cutting, sewing, and working with
fur. The materials and techniques used in creating great
faces will also be presented. Basic puppet manipulation

| ADVANCED:
BUILDING A PROFESSIONAL PUPPET |
Remember
how amazingly squished Kermit the Frog’s face
looked after a solid wallop from Miss. Piggy? Come to
this eight-week workshop and learn how to make a fabric
“Muppet Style” puppet that has all of the
expression one could ever want. In this course students
will learn to sew a stitch down the middle of a puppet’s
face that is virtually invisible. This workshop will
include techniques for inserting usable arm control
rods. The materials and techniques used in creating
great faces will also be presented. Basic puppet manipulation
will be covered. No prior experience is necessary.

Puppetry
for Educators: PERFORMANCE
|
Puppets
when used in a classroom setting can capture the imagination
of a student and bring any lesson to life. The idea
of using puppets to teach can be daunting at first.
This workshop will help educators learn to become comfortable
using puppets in the classroom. Mike Harding of Applefun
Puppetry will share his experience and provide tips
on using puppetry effectively. Then, in a safe environment,
participants will be encouraged to try out some puppets
and do a little performing. Special attention will be
given to using improvisational techniques with puppets.
No prior performance experience is necessary.
